The Bangalow boxes are made from the fallen sheath of the Bangalow and Alexander Palms.  It is an indigenous plant to the Northern Rivers region where Zimmi lives. 

We love that Zimmi has developed a style and voice that is  directly related to the historically significant containers made by local aboriginal tribes who used these containers to collect water and foraged foods.

Her version of these uses coloured thread for stitching and a stick for a handle, which she generally finds on the beach, on her daily walk.

The material is soaked, folded and stitched……once again one of the most environmentally friendly, simple and intelligently natural baskets.
